Protein Packed Apple and Spinach Smoothie
Sometimes cooking eggs and throwing a bunch of stuff for an omelette or scramble can get a little tedious in a rushed morning. So what better way to get your protein, blending it all into a smoothie!
I’ve always been curious to people that use egg whites in their morning smoothies, and I just had to try it. To my surprise you don’t even realize its even in there. Almost like tofu, they take on the flavor of whatever you’re blending it with.
By adding an apple for some sweetness, and peanut butter and avocado to add some good fat, it becomes a really enjoyable smoothie that I have been drinking for the last 2 weeks! Super healthy too, with about about 40g of protein, about 25g of fat (more or less) and low in sugar and carbs, it’s a great way to start your day, or before you hit the gym!
When you use pasteurized egg whites in a carton, they come out a little more “watery” than if you were to use fresh eggs, and I’m good with that! Adding a little ice into the mix also make it super enjoyable, and add a kiwi, or some coconut along with it for some added flavor.
making smoothies at home really makes the type of blender you have important. I have a cheaper Ninja Blender thats been in use for about 5 years, and it really doesn’t get the smoothie down to a water-like consistency that you’d expect at a juicery.
