Pumpkin Spice muffins turned into a brain-like pull-apart bread, is going to make the kids so excited Halloween morning. Well In our house it’s pretty much been what my son has bugging me to make almost every morning at this point!

This was a super fun project to throw together! Using Krusteaz Pumpkin Spice Muffins, I had little to know worrying about measuring ingredients, or worrying about it tasting amazing!

While the muffins were in the oven, I put together a simple little icing, with milk, powdered sugar and a little pumpkin spice seasoning. And this would help the muffins stick to each other to mimic a pull-apart bread!

I thought this would be a fun idea to hollow out a styrofoam skeleton head (if you can find a already made skeleton head bowl – even better), lined the inside with wax paper so none of the Styrofoam would get stuck to the muffins.

And for the muffins I used a cake pop mold (not worrying to much about over filling) then as they were just cool enough to touch, tossed them in the a little of the icing, and began to stick them together in the skeleton head. As they cool the icing hardens and they’ll stick together and totally looks like a brain!


This is a fun little treat to either serve up for breakfast, or at any Halloween potlucks you’ll be attending. They’ll think you’ve slaved away in the kitchen for hours too!

Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Muffin Brains

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 16 muffins

  • 1 box Krusteaz Pumpkin Spice Muffin Mix
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 skull shaped bowl


  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice seasoning
  • 1 tbsp milk


  • Preheat oven to 350F. In a bowl, stir together Krusteaz Pumpkin Spice Muffin Mix, water, vegetable oil and eggs until blended.
  • Pour mix into silicone cake pop molds, and bake about 12-14 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • While the muffins are cooling, mix powdered sugar, pumpkin spice seasoning (or cinnamon), and milk until it becomes a nice creamy icing. If it’s too chunky, add a little more milk.
  • When the muffins are cooled, place in a large bowl with about half of the icing and toss so that the muffins have a light coating.
  • Stick each muffin together into a hollowed out skeleton head until it forms a “brain”, drizzling more icing on the top and decorate with your favorite spooky props. Enjoy!
