Keeping Hydrated With A Smile

Remember when you were a kid, your only option for a drink at the table was water or milk? I certainly do. Times have definitely changed. Its becoming more and more the norm for water to take the backseat during meal and snack times. I’m totally guilty of this myself, taking the soft drink or another flavored drink over water. Even when serving my family! Extremely bad habit!

Especially when there’s all kinds of options these days, its not as easy as it was to get kids to drink water. I’ll constantly be given the answer “juice!”, when asking what the beverage of choice is while eating a snack. If it wasn’t for my wife, who is a heavy water drinker we probably have a harder time drinking water in our family.

Sometimes it can be a little easier to get water into your child’s every day routine, or even after school snack with NESTLÉ® PURE LIFE® 8oz “Share-a-Smile™ water. They come in these rad kid-designed labels that make healthy hydration not only fun for the kids, but the entire family.

Speaking of the family, when we have our weekend outing we’re usually out long enough to where someone is going to need a snack (shocking, right?). So before we get out of the house do simple and healthy snacks like hummus and carrots. It’s quick, easy and honestly, as much as I love hummus, it can make me feel a little “sticky” in the mouth. For me, nothing quenches that “stickiness” like water.

Its a simple snack to make and gives the family energy for the day, and paired with Nestlé Pure Life Kid Designed Edition water, I don’t know how you wouldn’t have a smile on your face. A family that stays hydrated together, stays together! #DadJoke

Not-so-surprisingly to find out there’s about two-thirds of children in the US consuming at least one sugary drink on any given day; with 30 percent drinking two ore more. Being a parent, I can see how easy that can be to allow your child to drink juice, or chocolate milk – drinks that are always stocked in my fridge!

What I especially like about these bottles, are the designs that were drawn by children that are just so fun to look at. My wife absolutely adored them and thought they were cute to put in her bag on the go when the need for a quick swig of water was needed. Keeping these on hand definitely will help to cut down picking up a sugary drink on the go and getting that sugar spike that we all get addicted to.

Another great benefit to keeping Nestlé Pure Life Kid Designed Edition bottles on hand is how easy it will become to create a habit of drinking water with your children. Kids who drink 4+ glasses of water per day are more likely to frequently exhibit healthy habits, such as:

  • Getting their own water when thirsty
  • Eating fruits and vegetables at meal times without reminders
  • Requesting healthy food and beverage options for school lunches

All things I wish I did more of even at my ripe young age of 33 uhh.. 23. Yeah that’s it – 23!

Fascinating that product packaging is now targeting kids but guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I’ve read for years about what they offer at school. Recently walked through college cafeteria & it looks more like main street with lots of familiar fast-food restaurants … yikes.

  2. I turned -23 this month! Heheh I’m lucky enough that both of my kids LOVE water. I grew up around people that disliked the taste of water and I was always so surprised by it because that’s always been my first choice when it comes to drinks.
